CATH LE COUTEUR

Cath Le Couteur

Cath Le Couteur studied Directing at the National Film and Television School UK. Her short films won a number of awards and screened at key festivals around the world including Edinburgh, Berlinale and Cannes. She won the Sundance Alfred P Sloan Development Award to develop fiction feature ‘Bed’ and is a fellow of the MacDowell Colony and Rockefeller Bellagio Artist Residencies. She is a co-founder of Shooting People, the renowned online independent filmmakers collective (UK/NYC) of 45,000 members. She currently sits on the board of Directors UK.

 

Nick Ryan

Nick Ryan is an audio specialist, sound designer, composer and artist, widely recognised for his uniquely conceptual approach to creating audio experiences. Much of his work involves applying emerging technologies to the making process, or introducing people to new ways of thinking about audio. He is regularly invited to perform his work and speak about the future of sound at venues throughout the world such as The MIT Media Lab, The BBC, The BANFF Centre for the Arts and The Royal Institution. DANIEL JONES

Daniel Jones

Daniel John Jones is a artist and software engineer whose work explores new ways in which sound and technology can illuminate our understanding of the world, translating patterns and data into living musical forms. His BAFTA-nominated practice spans topics ranging from bacterial dynamics to network infrastructures, and has been shown at venues including the Barbican, the Museum of Science and Industry, IRCAM, the Southbank Centre, and the Royal Institution of Great Britain.

Neil Bennun - Writer, Fengyun SPACEBOT

Neil Bennun is an author and a writer of texts for interactive media, performance and animation. Shortlisted for the John Rhys Llewellyn Prize for Literature for his first book ’The Broken String’ (Penguin), a work on Southern African ethnography and rock art, he has been writing for digital media for twenty years. A co-creator of the 2012 Children’s Interactive BAFTA winner 'Nightmare High' for Channel 4, his work has won industry recognition at the highest level, with several BAFTAs and a D&AD nomination for Outstanding Achievement.

Season Butler - Writer, Suitsat SPACEBOT

Season Butler is a London-based writer, artist and academic. Her writing, research and art practices centre around intersectionality and narratives of otherness, isolation and the end of the world. She is also an associate producer of I’m With You, a loose little collective concerned with queer domesticity.

 
DAVE CRANMER

Dave Cranmer - Chief Engineer, Instrument

David Cranmer has been creating electronic and mechanical sculptures since 1998. Time spent in the special effects industry has fine tuned his love of dangerous machinery and dramatic engineering, and a keen interest in experimental audio has led to many sculptures taking the form of unusual musical instruments.

Delilah Holliday is front woman/songwriter of Skinny Girl Diet, London born and bred. Her artistic endeavours include Music, and Video and Visual Arts and at the age of 20 is already making her mark.

 
JOSH HUNNISETT

Josh Hunnisett - DEBRIS FOLEY RECORDING, INSTRUMENT

Josh Hunnisett is a multi instrumentalist and sound designer. After studying under sound designer and lecturer Julio D'Escrivan at Anglia Ruskin University, Josh graduated the Creative Music Technology course and has since worked at esteemed sound design company Soundtree, and also a stint at Grand Central Productions in London. He is also one of the driving creative forces behind critically acclaimed British band Woman's Hour, who release with record label Secretly Canadian, and are currently working on their second album.

DR HUGH LEWIS

Dr Hugh Lewis - Scientific Advisor

Hugh is a Senior Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Southampton, author of the space debris evolutionary model DAMAGE and leads the Astronautics Research Group’s space debris and space situational awareness activities. He is member of the UK Space Agency delegation to the Inter-Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee (IADC) and the Space Missions Planning Advisory Group (SMPAG), and also a member of the UK delegation to the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UN COPUOS).

 
SEAN MALIKEDES

Sean Malikides - Software Engineer, Instrument

Sean Malikides is an engineer with a passion for the arts. His work focuses on the nature of human interaction through sensing technology and electrical response of light, motion and sound, to create fully immersive interactive environments. Sean has also contributed to a number of educational programs, running the ‘Spatial Lab’ interactive architecture program at Monash University (2016) and founding the robotics program at the John Monash Science School, Melbourne (2014 – 2015).

Jason Peacock is a Sound Designer and Re-recording Mixer. Coming from a musical background having taken part in recording sessions at Abbey Road and composed music for film, Jason is a specialist in sound to picture who has worked across film, advertising, music videos, documentaries, online media and branded content.

Sally Potter is is an English film director ('Orlando'), screenwriter and actress. She is known for innovative form and risk-taking subject matter. She is currently completing her eight feature film 'The Party'.

 
GRUFF RHYS

Gruff Rhys - SUITSAT,  'SUITSAT' FILM

Gruff Rhys is a musician, writer, filmmaker and lead singer of the Super Furry Animals. One of the best-loved Super Furry Animals songs, ‘(Drawing) Rings Around the World’, was inspired by the subject of space debris.

Annie Richards - Writer, Vanguard SPACEBOT

Annie is a teacher and writer with a special interest in art and story-telling for early years. She is currently writing two picture books for young children. In recent years she has started to write for animation, and with Neil she has written numerous scripts for children’s TV and online.

Neil RICHARDS - WRITER, VANGUARD SPACEBOT 

Neil is a writer of fiction, TV, games and interactive. Originally a story-exec and producer, he started writing in the 90’s, scripting TV (from pre-school to teen comedy, sci-fi to education drama). He has also created the story and script for over 20 games. He’s had multiple BAFTA, Writers’ Guild and IGDA nominations. He’s co-creator of the digital best-selling crime series Cherringham, and is currently working with Imaginarium Studios on a ground-breaking AAA game.

Stu is from London but now lives in Czech Republic and works with web infrastructure and development. He is the CTO of Shooting People and Britdoc, and has been involved in projects like writetothem.com

Kristen Thobroe - Online Comms

Kris Thobroe is a freelance science communicator and social media manager. While studying MSci Physics at the University of Nottingham Kris was president of PhysSoc Nottingham, the largest and most successful physics society in the UK and UoN's 'Best Society' and 'Best Departmental Society' - alongside this he also held positions as the Social Media Manager and as a school ambassador for the School of Physics and Astronomy. Since graduating with a prize for outstanding contributions to the life of the department Kris has been backpacking and cycle touring in Asia and Europe - recently completing a cycle from Norway to the UK while running the online communications for Project Adrift.
